Melt the butter, sugar and treacle in a pan - don't let it boil! You can melt it in the microwave too, but cover the mixture and be very careful not to get it too hot. Mix in the oats and salt and stir thoroughly Press into a 20cm (8") square tin and smooth the surface Bake in the oven at 190'C (375'F or GM5) for 23-30 minutes, until set and golden brown Mark into portions whilst still warm then leave to cool on a wire tray. Enjoy!
150g / 5oz butter or margarine 75g / 3oz raw brown sugar 75g / 3oz black treacle or black molasses 225g / 8oz porridge oats pinch of salt
