Cranks prides itself on making bread the proper way. It’s naturally delicious because we allow the dough to rise slowly over several hours, unlike some other breads which use additives to speed up the process.
We haven’t changed the way we bake Cranks bread in over 40 years, in our view it’s the proper way to make bread. So we’ve decided to link with some like-minded people and join the Real Bread Campaign*; fighting for better bread in Britain.
A new survey by the Real Bread Campaign of 1300 people around the UK found that
Real Bread Campaign co-ordinator Chris Young said “These results support the Campaign's call for an Honest Crust Act. The people of Britain have the right to know what goes into the loaves we buy. When shopping we should have the chance to make fully-informed choices about the food we feed out families. Sadly some manufacturers and retailers choose to hide unnecessary additives behind current EU legislation depriving us of this basic right. Surely Britain can do better than that?”
Look for the Loaf Mark !
Cranks is Proper Bread, that's why you’ll find The Real Bread Loaf Mark on our bread. This is a scheme created by the Real Bread Campaign to allow bakers to give shoppers an at-a-glance assurance that a loaf has been made without the use of any artificial additives or hidden processing aids
* Part of the charity Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming, the Real Bread Campaign is the membership organisation that brings together bakers, independent millers, cereal growers, researchers, and everyone else who cares about the state of bread in Britain.
